Film

Original Motion Picture Score

Theme

Music lies at the heart of Lara: a piano concerto composed from the imagined perspective of Viktor exists within the film as his own work, while a woodwind quintet forms the musical voice of Lara herself. The score received the Bavarian Film Award for Best Film Music.

Duration

“This is how we came up with Viktor’s piano concerto. It was interesting to see that there is a way to talk about those things without really knowing the language of music. Arash Safaian understood that perfectly. We were able to get the actual score in the film which was very important to me, which emphasized the mystery around and about Lara.”

— Jan-Ole Gerster, Film Talk

“Arash Safaian’s score is very much in keeping with the film’s idiosyncratic spirit, used sparingly until it’s time to blast the audience away with racing fingers and masterful playing.”
